Disappearing Act

One of the statements that stuck out to me was when Mr. Gurian stated that the young men he had worked with in prison “had been raised by females that did not promote education and found relevance in the schools they had attended”. I agree with that statement because in your family or whoever is not giving you the push to finish school, or further your education then it could get hard to get motivated to do so. Sometimes people need the extra push and support to achieve goals but if the people surrounding you have not even done so themselves, then who is really there to support and push you to do finish school and further your education. Mr. Gurian also stated that” young men who do not finish high school or go to college will be more likely to father children outside of wedlock, and more likely not to pay child support”. Sadly it’s a lot of these kinds of fathers in these times of days fathering children out of wedlock. I have seen and heard of these kind of fathers having children and not playing their role as a father and not paying child support which means that they probably fall under the statement “young men who don’t finish high school or go to college will be more likely to be unemployed, which he will be more likely to engage in violence against women and more likely in crime. I also think that girls are ahead because it’s a new world compared to back then. A lot of things are way different, there is new distraction and people that guys look up to that are millionaires and successful that did not graduate high school or go to college. They think that they can take that same road.  Some guys who grow up in a single family home don’t have their dads, so who are they to look up to. A male figure is not in the home to guide them.

Gay marriage.

I think whether the Supreme Court is for or against gay marriage it’s not going to matter. If they are against it then okay, before or after getting married gays are still going to be together, they are still going to live together. Who really cares if same sex wants to get married, I know that it’s an issue everywhere, mainly because of beliefs but is same sex marriage affecting you in any way? Just because it’s against your beliefs does not mean that it is the same for the next person. Saying that they can’t marry does not stop anything. I think that they should be able to marry, I mean it’s just a piece of paper that is making things “official” why not be for it?. In some states it would technically fall under common law marriage, though it’s the same sex. I could see why people could be against it because some do not view it as your average family, but your not the person in the relationship, so its should not matter, this is NEW time, not back in the day.

freedom of speech but not really -Charlie Hebdo

Three gun men came into a French magazine office and killed twelve people including two officers, all over a caricature of Prophet Muhammad. I think the publishers should have thought twice about publishing it especially since they had already came into the office before with a fire bomb. Yes, its freedom of speech but do you really want to lose your life over "freedom of speech", especially when the group of people have already clearly showed you that they are not scared to take your life. I don’t think that it is right that people have to watch what they say because other people cannot handle someone freely speaking their mind, especially when they do not like what the other person is saying, the gunmen took it to the extreme, but in some countries they do not and cannot handle such things as freedom of speech. So they handle things in this kind of horrible way. I guess in this case "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all" .

Right to die

I'm with and against the laws to end your own life if your terminally ill with lethal medication prescribed by a doctor.Because like most people would think "when god decides when its your time to go, then its your time to go".. But i think if you are in a certain situation were you are terminally ill and there is nothing that can be done, you should have a right and be able to end your own life if you are positive about your choice. I think that 29 year old Brittany Maynard made her decision to go with the law of taking her own life legally, because i feel she is looking at her situation as she accepts what is going on with her and why wait around for her last time here " why not go ahead and get it over with". I can see why some people would cause an up roar because people look at is as its not up to you to take your own life and decide when its your time to go, its up to god to determine when its time for you to go. she, her parents, and husband were okay with her decision and she left this earth surrounded by people who loved her and that's what she wanted. So who can say that it is wrong when she made a final decision to end her own life when its legal in the stat of Oregon.

Parking spot.

I feel about the killing of the three students from Chapel Hill that it was a hate crime. It makes you wonder if it was really over a parking spot. I don’t think anyone is going to kill someone well three people, execution style for an ongoing dispute over a parking spot. BUT I could definitely be wrong with the kind of world we live in today. What I don’t understand about the guy that killed the people is that he says it was not a hate crime, but yet the father of the young women that were killed said that Craig hicks has threatened them before in the past with his gun visibly showing in his belt and it made them feel uncomfortable. There is nothing else to discuss about this case but to think it was a hate crime. Would you really want to go away to prison, for probably the rest of your life over killing people over parking? Killing someone period over something so stupid that could have been handled differently....and it really makes you wonder because the guy that was killed posted a tweet on his twitter stating “it’s so freaking sad to hear people saying we should ‘kill Jews’ or ‘kill Palestinian’ ”” and then all of a sudden Craig hicks kills them over a parking spot. I don’t believe Craig hicks one bit and believe that this was a hate crime.

Ferguson

I think that the people in Ferguson took advantage of what was going on. What happened in Ferguson had to do with a black man getting shot by an officer. How is looting, and causing fires going to solve anything that happened?  i feel that the looting was wrong in so many ways especially it being in the community that they are from. Why would u loot from the community where u stay? Doesn't make sense to do that, not saying that they should have done it in another community, I feel like the looting was wrong all together and shouldn't have been done.

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence

I think the NFL should treat domestic violence like any other case. I think that they should investigate the case properly before making a sudden decision on things, simply because I'm sure there are some cases where people are out to get NFL players , and being a NFL player is how most support their families and no one wants to be without a job. I also think the NFL should stay out of peoples personal business, like the ray rice situation. If his wife is not making a big deal about what happened, then why should every one else? even though it is exactly what is looks like, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE  if she continues to stay with him after what happened then why is everyone in their business, I've never been in any type of domestic violence situation so i would say I wouldn't put up with it and just leave, but I'm assuming in most cases some might not be that strong to do so?. But I do think the NFL should investigate these cases real carefully.

Way beyond!

I think that the challenges and the way that the taliban human rights are set up and how they look at things for the women, something should be done. Some of the things they are for should be against the law in their country and should come up with something that's more equally especially for the women.

I don't think that it's fair or right at all what the taliban women have to go through or give up just because of them wanting to do something different or have an opinion about doing whatever it is that they are wanting to do and that their dad and husband is against. It's against human rights to kill or basically own a person, tell them what to do and keep them in hiding because of marriage.

It's so sadly wrong that the women who are raped are imprisoned and the men who are at fault are free. It's backwards and doesn't make any sense for things to be set up that way.  How is it right that a woman goes to prison for being raped?, she didn't do anything wrong , she is the victim here, what is she being charged for? Being raped means a man forcefully had sexual intercourse with women who refused to have sexual intercourse back with that person,  How is that wrong on the womans behalf?. This is so sadly wrong in so many ways, which makes me feel sad and angry for the women there and it definitely makes me lucky to live and have been born here in the U.S

I don't think it's fair the women have to do things they don't want to do, have to marry when they don't want to be married, even when they are not in love with the person just to do something that they want to do as simple as going to school.  It's not fair for the parents to choose their daughters husband's, and then they are basically put in hiding because the husband view them as their possession, and to be kept from other men. If that's the case why is it not vice versa ?, because he is married also it should be equal

Compared to the women is the U.S despite all the bad things that are going on and have happened here, we do have rights we have a choice, a choice to marry who we want, can wear what we want, an education. Even though many women get raped here in the U.S , the woman Is never jailed for being a victim to being raped. You can't just get away with it here. When you read what these women  go through its makes u feel lucky to have such rights and appreciative.

underage decision

I think that Cassandra C. a 17 year old girl who is about to be 18 should be able to make her own decision when it comes to her not wanting to undergo chemotherapy treatment.

I think that if her mom supports her daughters decision then she should be able to go with what she's decided to do. Especially if she is about to be 18, even if they make her take the treatment, when she does turn 18 she will then be able to decide not to take the treatment anymore. Making her take the treatment from the start even though she didn't want to from the beginning is wasted time and medicine that could have went to someone else that wants and needs the treatment as well. I also think the 17 year old girl should be able to make decision when it comes to the treatment because she knows her chance of living and how much time she would have and she is OK with knowing that. People make these kind of decisions all the time. When they fill out their medical information when going under risky surgery's or whatever it may be people may fill out a do no resuscitate form. Even though she is only 17 and about to turn 18 she will be able to make that kind of decision then whether the state likes it or not.
I also think there should be some kind of law or rule to were if your 17 about to be 18, which is the age where u are considered an adult and able to make your own decisions and are refusing some kind of medical treatment, your parents are OK with it and you've been told the outcome of not going through with the treatment then people should be able to make that kind of decision at that age and it is a persons right to make their own decision.
